On March 5, 2018, Mr. Pan Liang, the Chairman of Hairong Group, accompanied by his entourage, met Mr. Chandima Weerakkody, the minister of Skills Development & Vocational Training of Sri Lanka. The minister first listened to Mr. Pan Liang’s introduction of Hairong Investments International (Pvt.) Ltd. (a subsidiary company of Hairong Gourp in Sri Lanka), Being aware of the extensive investment fields and its abundant capital backing of Hairong Group possesses, the minister expressed a great interest in cooperation with Hairong Group, expecting to cooperate in a wide range of Skills Development & Vocational Training projects. Such as establishing hotel management schools, training programs for construction workers and etc.
During the talks, the minister proposed to establish an English training institution for Chinese in Sri Lanka. In view of this proposal, Mr. Pan Liang expressed his perspectives, explained to the minister the current situation and highly mature market of English training industry in China, and gave revised opinions to the proposal: With the rapidly developing tourism industry in Sri Lanka and more and more Chinese investments flowing into Sri Lanka, establishing Chinese language training institutions for Sri Lankans, Indians working in Sri Lanka, and the other expatriates from other Southeast Asian countries will be more adaptable to the needs of the market, not only increase the employability and income level of Sri Lankans, but also meet the growing numbers of Chinese visitors in need of Chinese speaking service personal. This constructive amendment was fully affirmed and praised by the minister.
To this end, in consideration of the busy schedule of Mr. Pan Liang, the minister looks forward to Mr. Pan Liang’s next visit to the schools subordinated to the minister. Mr. Pan Liang appreciated the understanding of the minister in this regard.
On March 2, 2018, as invited by Mr. Rajeev Bandaranaike, the CEO of Colombo Stock Exchange, Pan Liang, the Chairman of Hairong Group, Dr. Kohona, Managing Director of Hairong (Sri Lanka), Hairong Lawyer Team, leading by Mr. Janaka Balasooriya, and Hairong team members from China and Sri Lanka attended the first Singapore “Investment Sri Lanka” Economic Forum held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Singapore.
Also present at the event were His Excellency Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka; His Excellency S. Iswaran, Minister of Trade and Industry of Singapore; His Excellency Nimal Weeraratne, Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Singapore; Chairman of the Sri Lanka Stock Exchange Mr. Ray Abeywardena and many other elites of government and enterprises.
The subject of this forum is to introduce the investment environment in Sri Lanka, to share investment experience and to explore investment opportunities in Sri Lanka. Hairong Group was invited to participate in this event as a model of the Chinese company invested in Sri Lanka.
At the meeting, Chairman Pan Liang along with Dr. Kohona met the Prime Minister H.E. Wickramasinghe, expressed his interest to enhance his investment in Sri Lanka, especially in the fields of mining and tourism real estate. The Prime Minister highly appreciated the investment plan of Hairong Group. H.E. wished that the relevant projects will be implemented as soon as possible. He also promised to arrange relevant functional authority to cope with Hairong Group to promote the above-mentioned projects.
On February 28, 2018, Mr. Pan Liang, the chairman of Hairong Group, accompanied by his entourage, met Mr. Xu Xiangchun, the deputy general manager of MCC, Mr. Wei Jiaming, the deputy general manager of The China ENFI Engineering Co., Ltd. and China ENFI Engineering Corporation (“China ENFI”) and the other related personnel in the conference room of MCC headquarter, for discussion about Sri Lanka Mineral Sands Project, and listened to the initial analysis report and advices on the project from the experts of China ENFI.
During the meeting, firstly, two engineers Mr. Zhou and Mr. Cui and the deputy general manager Mr. Wei Jiaming from China ENFI, introduced the attendees on the research of Sri Lanka Mineral Sands Project. According to the analysis report of the initial research by China ENFI, Mr. Xu Xiangchun, the deputy general manager of MCC, believes that Sri Lanka Mineral Sands Project is a very unique and good project. It is initially analyzed that the project has huge Mineral Sands reserves, favorable mining conditions, good mine quality and very high Investment Value. In the meantime, Mr. Xu Xiangchun affirmed the preliminary work well done by Hairong Investments International Pvt Ltd (a subsidiary company of Hairong Gourp in Sri Lanka). He expressed that MCC is very willing to collaborate with Hairong Group on this project and expects collaboration in a wider area in the future.
Mr. Pan Liang also expressed his affirmation to the initial research well done by China ENFI. He said Hairong Group has been devoting itself to investing in the fields of infrastructure, energy, tourism, real estate and mineral resources worldwide. Sri Lanka is the key point of Hairong’s investment in South Asia. Hairong Group has established good cooperative relations with high-level authorities of Sri Lankan government and its various departments. Sri Lanka Mineral Sands Project has been valued and supported by the main leaders of Sri Lanka. The collaboration conditions are considerably mature. Hairong Group is very willing to collaborate with the Chinese mining leading enterprise – MCC to jointly invest and develop Sri Lanka Mineral Sands Project. In the meantime, Mr. Pan Liang also expressed that Hairong Group is very willing to collaborate with MCC in more fields to jointly develop overseas projects.
To this end, both parties expressed their satisfaction with this conference. Mr. Xu Xiangchun expects to sign a MOU with Hairong Group as soon as possible so as to jointly facilitate the progress of the project. MCC will make every effort to ensure the project to finalize at the earliest.
