On January 14, 2021, the seminar on establishment of the “Sri Lanka platform” was held at the Sri Lankan Embassy in China. The Ambassador of Lanka to China Dr. Kohona and the Chairman of Hairong Group Mr. Pan Liang and his team attended the meeting.

 

The meeting proposed that Sri Lanka has excellent characteristic products and rich tourism resources, while China is a huge consumer market. Now, we need a bridge to link the two party to achieve complementary advantages and resource sharing. Hairong Group plans to invest in the “Sri Lanka platform”, to enhance the cultural exchanges and economic cooperation between China and Sri Lanka.

 

The plan was endorsed by the Sri Lanka Embassy. They stated that both the Embassy and the Sri Lanka government will fully support this work, especially in the recommendation and selection of Sri Lanka’s local suppliers and products.

On January 7, 2021, a technical analysis seminar on the Sri Lanka mineral sands project was held at the conference center in the headquarters of ENFI Group. Mr. Pan Liang, Chairman of Hairong Group, Mr. Xu Xiangchun, vice president of China Metallurgical Group, and Mr. Wei Jiaming, deputy general manager of ENFI Group attended the meeting. After the technical discussion, the total estimated investment of the project is 310 million U.S. dollars, and the annual output will reach 250 million U.S. dollars after completion.

On January 6, 2021, Mr. Pan Liang, Chairman of Hairong Group was invited to attend the investment seminar held by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in China. Sri Lankan Ambassador to China Dr. Palitha Kohona, Deputy general manager of China Metallurgical Group Mr. Xu Xiangchun, General Manager of China Metallurgical International Engineering Group Mr. Wang Zhou, and Deputy General Manager of Enfi Group Mr. Wei Jiaming also attended this seminar.

 

During the seminar, Sri Lanka Ambassador Dr. Palitha Kohona introduced the latest investment policies and opportunities in Sri Lanka; The government welcomes Chinese businessman to visit and invest in Sri Lanka as it’s one of the safest countries in the world with investment protection and bilateral Double Tax Avoidance Agreements. The ambassador also thanked MCC for its contributions to the infrastructure in Sri Lanka over the years. He wished that the mineral sands project jointly invested by Hairong Group and MCC will be able to commence operation as soon as possible.

 

We all agreed that the pandemic is the main reason, resulting in the inefficiency of work now, and we hope that the virus will be controlled soon. All parties affirmed to work together to build a modern mining enterprise integrating mining, mineral processing, and deep processing, to promote local economic development, increasing the tax revenue, and providing more employment opportunities for residents.
