WOGC (World Organization of Governance and Competitiveness) visited Sri Lanka, meeting with Sri Lanka’s president, Maithripala Sirisena

On November 28, 2016, WOGC (World Organization of Governance & Competitiveness) visited Sri Lanka and met with Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena. WOGC briefed President Sirisena on WOGC’s practice in the United Nations, Latin America and South-East Asia and also put forward constructive suggestions for the development of Sri Lanka. The two sides exchanged views on various fields that could enhance Sri Lanka’s national competitiveness, such as the development of Colombo Port City, the development of tourism resources throughout Sri Lanka, the development of mining in the north and south, and the comprehensive development of the financial industry. President Sirisena expressed appreciation for WOGC’s adoption of the new method and the new model of national competitiveness and global governance to promote the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and help developing countries to achieve growth. They also expressed their expectations for the cooperation between the two countries.
