At the invitation of His Excellency Sirisena of Sri Lanka, deputy secretary-general of WOGC under UN and Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Pan Liang attended the meeting at the private residence of the president.

On May 18, 2017, invited by the President of Sri Lanka Sirisena, Pan Liang, the Deputy Secretary General of the WOGC of the United Nations and the Minister for Economic Development, met with Sirisena in his private residence.

During the meeting, Mr. President kindly greeted Minister Pan Liang first, and said that it was the second meeting between the two sides. He was still impressed by Chen Hong, the Chairman of WOGC and his party last time. Secondly, he congratulated WOGC on its smooth landing in Sri Lanka and expressed his sincere gratitude to the WOGC for its charity work in Sri Lanka’s flood. Mr. President claimed that he highly appreciated the efforts made by WOGC to develop the mining deep processing, tourism and new energy industries in Sri Lanka, and hoped that the WOGC could continue to promote the development of the industries.

Minister Pan Liang expressed his thanks for Mr. President’s recognition and support for the work of the WOGC, and said that WOGC would make every endeavor to develop projects in related fields, and Sri Lanka, as a tourist country, has to vigorously develop new energy to protect its unique environmental resources, and vigorously develop its tourism industry.”

At the meeting, President of Sri Lanka made a written instruction for the proposal for mining deep processing project put forward by the WOGC, and hoped that the relevant projects would be implemented as soon as possible. After the meeting, Minister Pan Liang presented a Manchu embroidery craft with Chinese characteristics to the President. On the craft, there is a Chinese classical pattern of “prosperity brought by the dragon and the phoenix”, implying to wish the President a full life and the prosperity of his country.
